At the end of January, further IoT nodes were completed by the electronics workshop of the TU Kaiserslautern. The nodes are currently used by the project partners for sensor and software development.
LoraWAN range test
First range tests were carried out in Kaiserslautern to determine the transmission behavior between the gateway and the IoT node. With the friendly permission of the administration of the TU Kaiserslautern, a gateway could be temporarily installed on the roof of the administration building of the TU Kaiserslautern.
Development of a first IoT node
A first IoT node was developed based on a Hetlec ESP32 microprocessor. The node sends measurement data of a connected pressure sensor every minute via the already developed gateways to the TTN server.
LoraWAN Gateway
Two LoraWAN-Gateways based on a Raspberry Pi 3 with Pi PoE Hat and iC880A-SPI – LoRaWAN Concentrator have been assembled and put into operation. The gateways are currently connected to the “The Things Network” server and can be powered by power over ethernet.
Water JPI Kick-Off Meeting in Paris
The Kick-Off Meeting of the IC4WATER call was held on Feb. 6th 2019 in Paris, France in the rooms of the Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR). The coordinators of the eight funded project presented the projects and were inteviewed about the challanges and methods.
