Content

Stationary gas turbine plants are indispensable energy converters based on gaseous or liquid fuels. Due to the high exhaust gas temperatures, they are ideally suited to operate a downstream steam cycle. With such combined systems very high utilization rates of the fuel used are achieved, which is particularly high when in addition to electricity and process heat, cold or steam is generated. Particularly noteworthy is that gas turbines in conjunction with the expansion of renewable energy sources will play an important role in the future, as fast startup and load changes the gas turbine to power reserves (residual loads) of renewable energy such as wind and electricity lead sun is possible, on the other hand, they are suitable for the combustion of hydrogen-enriched gases or synthetic fuel gases from wind power. This lecture gives an overview of the design principles and applications of the gas turbine in an almost decarbonised world of tomorrow.
