Specific surface conditioning of 100Cr6 during cryogenic hard turning by model-based process pre-control and process control

The aim the project is the production of component surfaces that are resistant to process-typical disturbances by means of a control system for cryogenic hard turning. This has been prepared by extensive interdisciplinary preliminary work on modelling the surface layer condition on the basis of in-process measurement and control variables and is to be fully developed over the next three years in the second phase. The scientific investigation of the surface layer, which is influenced by the manufacturing process and the condition of the base material, as well as its effects on the component properties with the inclusion of new types of non-destructive measuring systems, is just as important as the optimization of the model resulting from this.

The scientific work is supported by the DFG within the research priority program SPP 2086 with funding and intensive technical support.
