Chair of Applied Mechanics

Applied Mechanics II

Short description

The lecture TM II deals with elastostatics, i.e. with the statics of elastically deformable bodies. First local stresses and deformations are introduced as stresses and distortions and their combination by Hooke's law. Based on this, an elementary theory of stress and deformation of beam-shaped structures due to bending, transverse force shear and torsin is considered. The lecture concludes with the introduction of basic energy methods.
