Doctorate and Post-Doctorate
The highest academic degree awarded by the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering is the Doctorate (PhD). The PhD is evidence of the ability to conduct independent scientific study.
The PhD research is performed, as a rule, in the individual departments or working groups and the members of the research staff also assume some teaching responsibilities.
If you are interested in applying for a doctoral supervisor, please contact one of the professors in our department.
More information about doctorate studies can be obtained by selecting the appropriate area in the graphic below.
A doctorate degree is required for post-doctoral qualification (habilitation). The post-doctoral qualification serves as an acknowledgment of scientific excellence and pedagogical competence (teaching abilities). The habilitation signifies the authorization to teach a particular special subject area.
