Plenary lecture at the PPC-Petromat in Bangkok

At the PPC-Petromat, a conference jointly organized by Chulalongkorn University's The Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC) and the Center of Excellence on Petrochemical and Materials Technology (PETROMAT), Prof. Schlarb gave a talk on "Polymer Based Hybrid Composites for Sustainable Development”. The annually held conference is the event for the actors from science and industry in the petrochemical and plastics sector.

Although plastics are nowadays often seen as part of the problem, Prof. Schlarb presented in his lecture that plastics can be part of the solution, using research examples of lightweight design and tribology from the Lehrstuhl für Verbundwerkstoffe (CCe), Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK). In this regard, however, it is necessary to analyze the relevant issues soberly, to fundamentally examine them with a technical and scientific understanding and to offer solutions for the industry and ultimately for society.
